I was rather surprised by the negative reviews of this desk. I wanted a small colonial style desk for light use, and this one looked nice and was just the right size.
When it arrived I was pleased by its solidity and the way it all fit together.
A nice desk, at a great price. It was also very well-packed and easy to put together.

I returned this desk. It is made of very cheap material. It arrived with a split leg, cracked corner and broken drawer. It did not hold up well to the shipping - but it is fiberboard (or least it appears to be). I would not recommend this desk.

I first saw this exact same table on another site for considerably more money. I was thrilled when I found it at Amazon because it was quite a bit cheaper and the shipping was free.
I received the table exactly when they said I would. It was in excellent condition, very easy to assemble, and it's absolutely charming. It looks much better than its picture.
I couldn't be happier!

This desk broke the first day it was in my house! The drawer is actually supposed to pull out (for a computer keyboard, presumably) -- the drawer face is supposed to rotate out 45 degrees to lay parallel to the drawer's bottom. Upon receiving the desk, however, I couldn't get the drawer to open -- until the whole desk face CAME OFF in my hand. Wouldn't purchase it again, or recommend it to anyone.

I had (3) of these units delivered as each one was broken in transit. Finally AMAZON declared the unit non-deliverable. Looks good but badly constructed. Scared to place anything on the desk as the desk looked like it would collapse.

After reading dozens of reviews across Amazon and Target, I finally went for ordering this desk. I was nervous as to how it would arrive to me given the number of poor reviews I had read. I gave it a chance because most of the poor reviews were 2006-07, so I hoped/assumed it had improved by now. Problems included damage in shipment, damaged box, etc. Fortunately, my package arrived very quickly (I ordered on Saturday and it arrived by Friday), and the box had 2 pretty good size damaged areas on the box, but it did not get through the multiple layers of padding and cardboard, and the desk itself was in great shape.
It assembled very easily, although I did end up stripping one screw (one of the four holding leg assemblies to the table top). Fortunately, the way this desk is designed, you can do as some others have done and reinforce the legs to table top attachment using some L brackets....OR you can be prepared to detach the top from the legs part (I haven't decided yet# whenever it needs to move. Either way...GREAT looking desk and the perfect size. It sits in my office which is a small 9x9 space. It's a good anchor piece for the room #its this desk and one bookshelf).
If you look at the pictures...the opening to the bottom shelves is 10"x15" (HxW)...BUT the 10" height is misleading as its affected by a 2" lip that you could overcome by putting something (like a printer) in the bottom shelf through the side - side shelf opening increases H to 12.5". The top shelves are 7.4"x15" (HxW).
Per another person's recommendation, I am (most likely) planning to reinforce the attachment of the legs to the table top (since the legs are pretty heavy relative to how they're attached), and I also plan to put a coat of furniture wax on it.
Overall, giving it 5 stars because I'm very happy with it for the looks, design, price and overall experience in delivery.

Arrived from Target on time and the guys were nice enough to carry it up without much of a fuss.
Instructions were dead simple and it only took about 30 minutes to setup. L-brackets connecting the shelves to the top-shelf are not completely necessary but I might do that if I plan to move the desk to another location.
As another reviewer wrote, I'd recommend adding some wax to the top and the shelves, so as to minimize scratching. The shelves also have a lot of vertical space, so it's entirely possible to fit a subwoofer in their, clearing up leg space underneath.
Some of the edges of the desks were scuffed, but I preferred to fix up the markings myself than to return it for a new one.
Overall I give it five stars. Sturdy, aesthetically pleasing, unique, and affordable.

$150?? This is a steal! I got one last week and I'm getting another one before Target realizes their pricing error. No particle board, beautiful finish, solid as a rock!

This desk was easy to assemble and is very sturdy and attractive. It's perfect for laptops, which is how I use mine. The bottom shelves serve very nicely for books; I like to keep some folders on the top shelves.
The design is quite elegant: basically two sawhorses hold a perfectly sized desk surface. It is heavy enough to be stable but not too heavy. It's just right.
It was delivered in a large box. I opted to open mine on the porch and then carry in each piece separately. I'd recommend doing that because the box is bulky. It was a bit battered from the delivery process, but the desk is packed nicely and protected well.
Great value for the money. I recommend this desk.
