Recently recovering from an accident, I was so looking forward to this product since I have to elevate both legs. It arrived in good time which I was thrilled with, but simultaneously I got a couple emails from a series of chinese forwardings, that warned me in very very poor english not to overtighten bolts-(which ones? Who knows). Another email sent revised directions.
Many of the pages did not come thru, but the one-page of directions in the package (more a schematic with erroneous part count) was a nitemare of teeny tiny illegible print and mistakes, and the one from the email not much more informative. It took me, a seasoned IKEA furniture assembler, nearly two hours to figure out how to put it together with the french chinese attempt at translating part of the directions into English.
All of that is a foreshadowing to the eventual outcome: the product was mis-engineered, with the telescoping upper half held in place by two twisting screw knobs that have nothing to lock into, so it will slllooowwlllyyy (slowly) slip down coming to rest and then crush your legs.
Even if you go ahead and drill some holes in the pole for the screw-knobs to slide into, it is still shakey. The email warns you to counterbalance it with something heavy (books or a futuristically narrow printer), but that doesn't matter since the weakness is really in the topheavy table and inadequate support pole. The laminate covered particleboard top is too heavy for the construction, and even using just that portion laying on my bed, got very uncomfortable wrists on the support bar. The tray, therefore, is too heavy for the support stand.
This product is a great idea but needs better engineering. Those who are handy may find a good way to work around these shortcomings.
