 "Grandrih EZ Reader" 2009-12-14
By NUBIAN PRINCESS (ILLINOIS)
I purchased this lamp and was expecting to have superior light for a long period of time.. The light lasted for approximately three months. I got sick was was unable to order a bulb for another two months.

I ordered the bulb because I thought that was the problem. Too my surprise, the lamp is at fault. I attempted to have it fixed but it costs more for repairs than

the lamp originally cost.

There are a lot of wires.

I'm sorry but I wouldn't recommend this lamp.

 "Floor lamp" 2009-12-10

I wanted a task light for my sewing machine, but I find this light is so versitile that others in the family are always "borrowing" it for their tasks. It has been a useful task light for puzzles, crafting, reading and it functions well as a task light in my sewing room when I get it back.

 "Buyer be warned" 2009-03-02
By Jane Beckwith (Indianapolis, IN USA)
I bought this lamp as a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law. Less than one month after she had begun to use it, it no longer worked. I called the company and they said that the bulb probably needed to be replaced (even though their advertisement says that the bulb will burn for 10,000 hours). The representative I spoke with told me I needed to mail in the receipt for the lamp, the model number, etc. and they would ship a new bulb. I couldn't find my receipt (I had purchased the lamp a couple of months before Christmas) and so I called the company back and asked if I could just pack up the lamp and mail it to them--they said yes, but because I could not produce a receipt I would have to pay for shipping (both ways)and the cost of the bulb . My husband then got involved and he suspected that it might not be the bulb that was the problem. With a little investigating, he found that the circuit board was completely fried. I called the company back--same thing: my options were to ship the entire lamp to them at my own expense and they would install a new circuit board (and charge me for it) and charge me to ship it back, or they could ship me a new circuit board (at my expense for the part and shipping) and my husband could install it. We went with the second option and, because he is very handy, he was able to install the circuit board. I don't know, however, if just anyone could install a new circuit board in a lamp. The lamp has worked well now for about 3 weeks, but I'm wondering if we're going to encounter another problem. After saying all of this, my mother-in-law does like the lamp. But if you are going to buy one, make certain that you save the receipt forever--it's very possible that you will need it.

 "cheap item" 2009-02-15
By C. Yandow (Morgan, Vermont USA)
This is the second EZ reader I have purchased. They both were cheaply made; and even though the directions to assemble them are easy to follow, the product iteself does not assemble well. This last one is tilted because the threads do not match up. I have tried to remedy it a couple of times by disassembling and assembling it again to no avail.

"Good for Reading, White Light" 2009-01-09
By M.Bauman
This lamp provides good light for reading. However, the light produced is white and can be rather harsh if looking at it directly. This is a big contrast to softer yellow light from conventional bulbs. The price was decent for comparable products.

It can be placed on any work surface and offers a bright, comfortable light. Sleek and stylish, with a cool gray finish, this lamp is also Energy Star certified to help cut energy costs and protect the environment.

ES-201 27-Watt Full-Spectrum Desk Lamp At a Glance:
  • Full-spectrum compact-fluorescent lamp simulates brightness of sunlight
  • Eco friendly and Energy Star certified
  • Reduces eye strain and provides better contrast for reading
  • Glare free for computer use
  • Includes plug-in 27-watt 4-pin compact-fluorescent bulb
  • 10,000-hour bulb life

The ES-201 simulates the full spectrum and brightness of sunlight and is glare-free.
Simulates Sunlight for Comfortable Lighting
The ES-201 is a compact-fluorescent desk lamp that simulates the brightness of sunlight--which is balanced across the entire spectrum of color visible to the human eye--for clear, bright, and comfortable lighting that's easy on your eyes. It also helps reduce eye strain, provides better contrast and more vivid colors, and creates sharp visibility for more detail. And it's even glare free, making the ES-201 ideal for computer use.

Uses Less Energy to Save Money and Protect the Environment
To help save energy and potentially reduce your electricity bill, the ES-201 includes a plug-in 27-watt four-pin compact-fluorescent bulb with 10,000-hour bulb life. That means it lasts up to 10 times longer than standard incandescent bulbs, yet uses two-thirds less energy than an equivalent 100-watt incandescent bulb. For added convenience, this bulb uses an electronic ballast, so it won't hum or flicker, and it is a safe and cool alternative to incandescent and halogen bulbs.

The ES-201 is also Energy Star and Earth Smart certified, which means it uses less energy than non-certified products and can help save money and protect the environment. In fact, by purchasing products like this energy efficient lamp, families can save about a third on their energy bill with similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions--all without sacrificing performance, style, or comfort.

Adjustable Design
The ES-201 measures 26 inches in height--18 inches when positioned horizontally--with a seven-inch durable plastic base, so it won't crowd your desk, workbench, or shop. To help ensure that the light goes exactly where you need it, this lamp features an adjustable and flexible 9.5-inch gooseneck arm. Operation is simple: to turn on the ES-201, just flip the on/off switch conveniently located directly on the 10-inch shade.

What's in the Box
ES-201 Full-Spectrum Desk Lamp and one plug-in 27-watt four-pin compact-fluorescent bulb.

 "What a dud! Don't buy this." 2009-12-24
By J. Lee (Fairfax, VA, United States)
I was really disappointed in this lamp. I turned it on and it lasted for all of about 5 minutes before flickering off, never to turn on again. The light while it was on was very similar to fluorescent office light. I was really not impressed. Save your time and energy and stay away.

"Worked for 5 minutes - then nothing" 2009-12-08
By Mom in Florida (Florida)
Just purchased this item for my office. Put it together, turned it on and was happy for 5 minutes. Then it just stopped working. Tried another light bulb from a lamp that was working and it still didn't work. Tried several different outlets, etc. Still nothing. I'm not happy that this only lasted 5 minutes. I'm sending it back and asking for a full refund.

 "bad ballast" 2009-12-01
By Paul Amer Grants (Newark, DE USA)
The lamp started humming after a few usages. Soon after the lamp stopped working completely. The symptoms indicate a bad ballast. I opened the lamp to replace the ballast, but cannot find that part anywhere on the web.

 "Excellent Desk Lamp" 2009-10-30
By Motor Head (Columbus, IN USA)
I purchased this desk lamp because my old drafting table fluorescent lamp had finally died. This lamp is very reasonably priced, compared to many others similar desk lamps that cost a lot more. The light color is what I call "cool white" and is ideal for review of fine detail drawings, etc.

When I first plugged in the lamp it came on for a second or so, then went dead (ballast ?). I returned the lamp to amazon.com for an exchange and was really impressed with their on-line return system (even lets you print out pre-paid shipping labels !). They promptly shipped me a replacement lamp that has worked fine so far.

The only concern I have is that the fluorescent light tube is a special design that is not available from any hardware store; you will have to order it from the lamp manufacturer.

"Bright Lamp, Too Much Glare" 2009-10-06
By Amanda Mullis (Georgia, USA)
This is a very bright lamp and is good for a lot of things except for reading. It puts too much of a glare on my pages and is really frustrating. I have moved it a few feet higher and further back and it seemed to have helped a little, but there is still a very distracting glare. I am currently in the market for a good glare-free desk/reading lamp.
